Pictured below Haybarn Cottage (being central section shown)
Haybarn Cottage, as its name suggests, was once part of a working farm. The cottage is built of local stone and many of the original internal timber beams are still in evidence. There is a large open plan kitchen/dining and living area on the ground floor with under stairs storage and stairs leading to the upper floor. The upper floor comprises a bathroom, the master bedroom and a second bedroom at the rear. The master bedroom enjoys views across adjoining farmland, and a comfortable double bed ensures a good night's sleep.
The second bedroom affords sleeping accommodation for up to three people having two single beds with one of them housing a pull-out bed stored beneath.
There is a south facing garden at the front of the cottage with a small patio area having table and chairs where you may dine al fresco or simply enjoy an evening drink or watch the world go by.
Hidden behind an old stone wall adjoining the designated parking space is a communal area where rotary washing lines are available for use by residents of Haybarn Cottage and those of the other seven private cottages at Lawhyre Farm Cottages.
A drive leads to a children's play area with climbing frame and slide and a picnic area with brick-built barbeques for use by residents.
Entrance to the cottages is from Polvillion Road via a five bar farm gate which is required to be kept closed to ensure the safety of children staying at the cottages.
A particular feature of the cottages is the direct access from the grounds to a footpath leading to Readymoney Cove/and or to the nearby Covington Wood, the coastal path and Allday Fields where breathtaking views are to be had across miles of open sea and along the coast to Fowey, Polruan and the old lighthouse at Gribbin Head. The lighthouse, built in the early part of the 19th century, is visible for miles around but is no longer in active use.
There is a 10 minute walk to the famous Readymoney cove/beach from where access may be gained to the heart of Fowey along the Esplanade.
Fowey is one of the most unspoilt of Cornish seaside towns whose busy port is in constant use by a wide variety of craft, although sailing vessels tend to be predominate.
There are a number of excellent public houses offering a wide selection of local & other ales and a friendly welcome to all comers, and such welcome is generally extended to children and pets. We have found a particular welcome for dogs by the staff of the Galleon which is situated by the waterfront and enjoys excellent views across the harbour towards Polruan and inland along the estuary.
Fowey's narrow winding streets offer constantly changing perspectives upon this old town.
